Apia digital signature compatible with Chrome browser
Summary:
As future versions of Chrome browser will not use applets, STATUM has designed the Electronic Signature for Apia extension in order for users to be able to identify themselves while keeping the authenticity and integrity of data.
Information:
STATUM has used applets since the beginning of digital signature. These are java programs that work directly in the browser and prevent the user from having to download any software, regardless of the browser that is being used.
Given that this technology is gradually becoming obsolete (and soon it will be reflected on Chrome with the disabling of the Npapi plug-in), the Digital Signature for Apia extension has been designed.
This extension will try to communicate natively with the application of users, by communicating with the code installed in their computers.
For this extension to work, the user must have the digital signature application installed. After that, the extension should be enabled.
The user may also install a certificate and assign a password to it, so that every time someone wants to use such certificate they will have to enter the password as well. This document provides certification and identification authority to the natural or legal person and its main objective is to validate and certify that an electronic signature belongs to a specific person or entity.
Lastly, the user will be able to use Token devices for storing certificates and for them to be installed on the computer, keeping the technical and legal protection of documents and electronic business transactions.
