Do Not Call National Register, a system developed with Statum's technology, has over 330,000 users
SUMMARY:
The Do Not Call National Register, implemented with STATUM technology and designed to grant users the possibility of not receiving promotional calls, reached a total of 330,695 registered numbers as of August 31, 2024.
INFORMATION:
Since its launch on April 30, 2022, 174 companies have consulted the database and 3,563 non-compliance complaints have been received, reflecting both user interest and the need to ensure compliance by companies.
This system offers telecommunications service users the possibility of registering in a database managed by the Communications Services Regulatory Unit (URSEC).
The aim is to avoid calls from companies seeking to advertise, offer or sell products and services.
Registering is a simple procedure that can be done online or by calling your provider. Telephone operators have five business days to process the request and forward it to URSEC, which keeps the list updated in real time.
Companies seeking to communicate with potential customers through calls should consult this registry to ensure that they do not call numbers that are registered. Otherwise, they are exposed to penalties ranging from observations to temporary suspension of activities or, in more serious cases, revocation of licenses.
This system is designed to protect users from intrusive marketing practices and is supported by a technological infrastructure that ensures full compliance with regulations.
The technology behind the procedure
STATUM developed this tool in collaboration with URSEC and Uruguay's telephone operators: Antel, Claro and Movistar. STATUM's technology made it possible to implement two essential procedures for the operation of the system.
The first procedure, aimed at telecommunications companies, facilitates the updating of the list of people registered or removed from the Do Not Call National Register. This procedure is handled by operators when a customer requests to be added to or removed from the registry.
The second, “Do Not Call National Registry Query”, is aimed at companies and call centers that make promotional calls. They must submit their databases to the regulatory agency, which then returns the numbers that are protected by the registry to prevent communication.
