Do Not Call National Register, a system developed with STATUM's technology, currently has over 350,000 users
SUMMARY:
As of November 30, 2024, the Do Not Call National Register reached 352,299 registered telephone numbers, which is evidence of a growing citizen interest in avoiding unwanted calls.
INFORMATION:
Since it has been in operation, 185 companies have used the platform to check the registry and the Communications Services Regulatory Unit (URSEC) has received 3,834 complaints for non-compliance, which consolidates this system as a key tool in the protection of consumer rights.
The technological infrastructure behind this advance was developed by STATUM, in collaboration with URSEC and the main telephone operators in the country: Antel, Claro and Movistar. This system uses a robust digital platform that ensures interoperability between the parties involved, facilitating both user registration and consultation by companies.
The system automates key processes:
Updating registrations: Operators manage users' registration or deregistration requests and transmit the information to URSEC within up to five business days. This integration ensures data accuracy and reduces processing times.
Registration consultation: Marketing companies and call centers must send their databases to the system, which automatically filters protected numbers to prevent unauthorized contact. This procedure ensures compliance with Decree 353/023 and reduces the risk of violations.
The development of STATUM not only optimizes registration procedures, but also promotes transparency and efficiency in data management, thus aligning with the digitalization policies of the Uruguayan State.
How to register and report non-compliance
Registration is accessible through different channels offered by the operators:
Antel: Through calls to 0800 1622 (landlines) or *6622 (mobiles), SMS to 6622, or through the My Antel platform.
Claro and Movistar: Sending SMS to 6622 or face-to-face attention in their commercial offices.
In case of receiving unauthorized calls, users can file a complaint with URSEC, indicating details such as the telephone number, the company responsible and the reason for the contact.
