AGESIC launched two free online courses on artificial intelligence and digital signatures.
SUMMARY:
The Agency for Electronic Government and the Information and Knowledge Society (AGESIC) has made two free, virtual, and self-paced courses available to help strengthen the digital skills of Uruguayan citizens. The initiatives focus on two key current topics: artificial intelligence and advanced digital signatures.
INFORMATION:
Both courses are offered through the AGESIC Educational Platform and do not require prior knowledge. To enroll, participants need internet access, a device (PC, tablet, or mobile phone), and a Usuario gub.uy account, the digital identification method provided by the Uruguayan government.Artificial Intelligence and Digital Citizenship
The course “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Citizenship: Understand, Apply, and Reflect” is available until December 20, 2026, and has an estimated duration of 15 hours.
The program aims to help participants understand, use, and critically analyze AI. It is divided into four modules with practical exercises covering fundamental concepts, the evolution of the technology, and its presence in areas such as education, work, and government services.
Topics such as the value of data, how algorithms work, risks, opportunities, and ethical, social, and environmental challenges are also addressed. The goal is to provide tools for responsible and informed use while promoting digital citizenship.
Advanced Digital Signature
The second course is called “Advanced Digital Signature” and is available until December 30, 2026, with an estimated duration of 3 hours.
It aims to teach participants how to sign documents simply and securely, with the same legal validity as a handwritten signature. The training covers general concepts of digital or advanced electronic signatures, differences compared to simple electronic signatures, legal and regulatory aspects, and how digitally signed documents are managed in both physical and digital environments.
The content includes video tutorials, documents, regulations, and supplementary material. Technical concepts such as encryption algorithms and the fundamentals of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) are also explored.
To participate, users must have, in addition to a Usuario gub.uy account, an intermediate or advanced level identification in ID Uruguay.
To obtain certificates for both courses, participants must complete all modules, corresponding evaluations, and the satisfaction survey.

STATUM also offers training to strengthen digital skills
In line with this commitment to continuous training, STATUM also offers its own online course catalog aimed at professionals working with its solutions and with digital processes in general. The platform gathers both public and private training programs available in Spanish, English, and Portuguese.
The catalog includes a progressive learning path for Apia — with beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, as well as an introduction to the platform’s new version — training programs for ApiaDocumentum ranging from general training to basic and advanced document processing, and an introduction to BPMN process design, the international standard for business process modeling.
