ApiaDocumentum implementation and data migration in URSEC by STATUM
Summary:
In 2009, STATUM got the approval to manage, through Apia BPMS, the project of standardization of the functioning of the Regulatory Unit of Communication Services (URSEC), by systematizing processes and enabling an efficient management of information. In 2015 STATUM made other significant improvements in the agency that will be mentioned below.
Information:
URSEC is a public agency responsible for the regulation and control of the activities related to telecommunications and postal services. In 2009, it was possible to achieve a success case related to this agency with the STATUM platform, as it could meet the demands of this regulatory unit thanks to a system that organized its operation rules and regulated the activities of the different offices.
It was also possible, among other things, to systematize work processes in order to make them consistent with the organizational structure and the very objectives of the agency. Furthermore, a system of information exchange and management between internal offices and users, combined with proper verification, monitoring and control processes, was established.
In 2015, a training course was conducted in the agency through the Electronic Government and Information Society Agency (AGESIC for its acronym in Spanish) which had a target public of about 150 people who were trained retrospectively by previously selected key users (10 to 12 people on average). It was a standard on-site training course which covered the whole Apia family (ApiaDocumentum, installation, update of versions, etc.). It is worth noting that AGESIC always gives participating agencies freedom to continue with these processes.
In the particular case of URSEC, STATUM worked on data migration from the previous system to the current one. Therefore, except for the migration, the following processes are systematic: training, research for configuration, testing, deployment and implementation. This last stage in particular was completed this year. The work of STATUM in URSEC was carried out with the purpose of aligning with the demands of the digital agenda defined by the political spheres, and thus to remain at the forefront in the standards set by the e-government of our country.
