We share with you the fundamental aspects of this portal, part III
Unit of Access to Public Information: There is the right of access to public information. All people in Uruguay have the right to access the information held by the State for free.
It can be obtained in two ways: through the website of the agency to be consulted, where information related to its management is found, such as the budget, acquisitions, expenses, calls for competitions and regulations. On each page it is possible to make a request for information by electronic means, but also, a second option is to exercise the right to access it in person.
In Uruguay, the unit of access to public information (UAIP) controls compliance with Law No. 18,381 and in it citizens can go to get advice, make complaints and demand even more information about compliance with this right.
The UAIP also stands out for carrying out the following tasks:
- Advise the Executive Power in compliance with current constitutional, legal or regulatory regulations and international instruments ratified by the Republic regarding access to public information.
- Control the implementation of this law in the obligated subjects. - Coordinate with national authorities the implementation of policies, as well as guide and advise individuals regarding the right of access to public information.
