ApiaTrámites adds three new processes to register foreign companies in Uruguay

Since the beginning of March, the registration, re-registration and modification procedures of representatives of foreign firms can be carried out online with ApiaTrámites.

This administrative procedure allows you to register, re-register and modify the legal representation of foreign companies in the country in a much more agile way. The proof of foreign signature accredits the authorization for a local representative to act on behalf of the foreign company.
This change occurs after an agreement between the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works.
Registration procedure
This procedure is aimed at individuals or companies domiciled in Uruguay that regularly and on their own offer services to help, promote, facilitate or improve the sale or delivery of products or services from foreign companies and receive in exchange a commission or a percentage from the seller. .
The procedure will no longer request the list of companies that are represented, so that the certificate issued once the procedure has been completed will not contain the names of the companies. In addition, the process of Expansion and Termination of Representatives of Foreign Firms is eliminated to expedite future procedures.
Representatives of foreign firms must meet certain requirements: establish domicile in the country, provide contact information and designate a person to follow up on the file. On the other hand, the presentation of a notarial certificate of the company, a request for a certificate of judicial record for the representatives, and verification of compliance with tax obligations are required.
With the new digital implementation, the certificate will be available online for representatives. This means that during its validity, the procedure will not have to be carried out again. The document can be accessed, consulted and downloaded at any time only with the RUT number.
Modification and re-registration procedures
Likewise, ApiaTrámites now allows the modification of registration data of foreign firms.
In this case, the requirement is a note signed by the representative requesting to modify the data corresponding to the represented company. Then, a new certificate is issued.
The third procedure that is now available in ApiaTrámites is the re-registration of the representative of foreign firms. It is done after the five-year period expires and a representative of foreign firms must renew their registration.
To carry out the procedure, you must establish an address in Uruguay and provide information such as telephone number and email. It is necessary to appoint a person (with their personal and contact information) so that they can follow the process in case the main interested party is not present. In addition, you must present a notarial certificate that describes the company's activity, request a judicial record certificate for the representatives and ensure that you are up to date with tax obligations before the DGI and the BPS.
