48% of Uruguay's institutional websites reduced digital accessibility errors
SUMMARY:
The fourth assessment by Agesic's Digital Accessibility Observatory, in October 2025, reported improvements in Uruguayan government websites. The report compared its results with those recorded in April of the same year and noted changes in the number of errors detected by automated tools.
INFORMATION:
According to the Observatory, 48% of institutional websites reduced their digital accessibility errors compared to the previous assessment in April. The report is based on automatic verification tools that identify flaws and count their presence on the pages surveyed. The tools used detected more than 13,000 web pages of public agencies without accessibility errors. That amount is equivalent to 28% of all pages surveyed in state institutions.
The agencies that carried out their first adaptation process in conjunction with Agesic reduced the errors identified in the previous assessment by 69%.
The update included an analysis of 16 procedures aimed at people with disabilities. Of the total evaluated, the report indicated that 31% comply with digital accessibility guidelines.
Agesic stated that the published figures show progress in the agencies' commitment to complying with digital accessibility regulations.
The Digital Accessibility Viewer evaluates technical aspects and criteria associated with standards, with categories ranging from styles and syntax to link validation and code compliance checks.
STATUM's contribution
Apia, the system developed by STATUM, was created from the outset to comply with digital accessibility regulations. The tool adheres to international accessibility standards, allowing it to be used by people with disabilities, including visual impairments.
The proposal incorporates artificial intelligence as part of the user experience. The goal is to expand accessibility possibilities in interaction and improve service quality in everyday situations. Apia promotes an interface based on voice or natural language writing, a scheme that aims to facilitate access to procedures, services, and content.
