URSEC Implements the Electronic File
Summary:
From September 2015, the Regulatory Unit for Communication Services (URSEC for its Spanish acronym) stopped using the traditional paper file. Since October, all documentation and files of the agency started having electronic format.
Information:
In the months prior to the abovementioned dates, the URSEC had joined the project for implementing the electronic file that was offered by the Agency for e-Government and Information Society (AGESIC for its Spanish acronym). A lot of hard work was invested in this project in order to adapt the electronic tool to the needs of this agency, the training of its staff and, finally, the obtaining of a digital signature.
In practice, the electronic file helps improving work quality, facilitating the distribution and location of the files by organized searching criteria. This way, it provides greater transparency to the management in particular and the public in general, offering its integration with the agencies that implement it in the future.
The electronic file also allows lowering the costs associated with the use of paper, optimizing the storing space and speeding up the processing and transferring times. It also helps to improve information security, by providing full control over data access, confidentiality, screenings and backup mechanisms, completely ruling out the risk of loss and deterioration of files.
