The Ministry of Labor adopts the new Apia 3.0 version
SUMMARY:
The Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS) adopted the new version of Apia 3.0 used in its main business processes. Among the main tasks of the update project, the reengineering of its processes, updating of base software, testing of all its processes in the new version and training of more than 100 people stand out.
INFORMATION:
Putting it into production involved a great effort by STATUM and the officials of that portfolio since the version jump “was big”, and it had not been updated since 2014, said engineer Sebastián Giménez, one of those in charge of carrying advance the update by STATUM.
The MTSS has more than 30 business processes, highlighting labor consultations, hearings, salary consultations and voluntary agreements as the most used.
To ensure the success of the project, a gradual migration of its processes was carried out, testing and validating them with the different referents of each area.
As he pointed out, in that version the standard BPMN notation was not yet used, an acronym that in Spanish means Notation and Modeling of Business Processes.
"The BPMN standard allows you to visualize the procedures graphically and provides a standard notation that is understandable for all the participants in the design of the processes", explained Giménez.
The update also sought to improve the user experience in using the system. The new version of Apia proposes changes that allow improving the performance of the organizations and of the people who use the tool. User-customizable dashboards, richer and more usable forms, minimalist screens with little information transfer are some of the improvements available in this innovative version.
The STATUM work team was made up of a Testing team led by María Fernández and a development team led by Emiliano Urruty. On the part of the MTSS, there was an excellent technical and quality team that was always present and offered its support for updating the system, Giménez pointed out.
More than 10 training instances were carried out (in remote mode) with different referents in the use of the system, in different departments of the country.
In turn, the company created audiovisual material to show the processes in the new version of Apia. All this content was made available on the MTSS intranet so that users can consult it whenever they want.
During the training, the users highlighted as the main advantage the possibility of working on more than one functionality at the same time, which allows them, for example, to view data returned by a query, to have the task tray always open and the possibility of being serving a user and uploading their data.
In addition, they qualified the new Apia as a "more friendly" system, emphasizing its modern visual appearance and accessibility improvements. This is due to the fact that Apia is based on standards and guidelines established by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), led by the W3C, the international consortium that generates recommendations and standards that ensure the growth of the Internet.
STATUM has been working with the MTSS for more than 10 years and Apia is one of the most used systems in the entire portfolio.
In 2021, more than 50,000 instances of Labor Consultations and more than 40,000 Hearings were created.
The platform is managed by more than 200 users.
