SUMMARY:

The renewal of the National Vehicle Registration Certificate and the Vehicle Identification Document are the most requested procedures to the Ministry of Transport and Public Works.
 

INFORMATION:

The procedure is fully performed online and allows requesting the issuance or renewal of the National Vehicle Registration Certificate. Such certificate allows vehicles of non-professional load companies, regular passenger transport companies or non-regular passenger transport companies (tourist, official or self-owned vehicles) to travel. The procedure also allows professional load companies to obtain the Vehicle Identification Document in order to travel throughout the country.

"This procedure allows passenger transport or load companies to digitally register their vehicles in just a few minutes. It also allows paying through the payment gateway. The procedure will be registered in the National Directorate of Transport management system," commented Gerardo Ciganda, manager of the e-Government area at the Ministry of Transport and Public Works.

In order to perform this procedure, which was implemented with ApiaTrámites technology, the company must have the Good Standing and DGI certificates. Also, in the case of load companies, they must have the accounting certificate in due.

Tourist and regular passenger transport companies must be covered by the Public Liability Insurance (following Decree No. 276/001) and Maximum Public Liability Insurance.

The cost of this procedure varies depending on the requester. It costs $ 250 (Uruguayan Pesos) per vehicle in case of passenger transport companies, $ 500 per vehicle in case of non-professional load companies, and $ 850 per professional load vehicle.

If the certificate is renewed after the due date there will be a surcharge equivalent to the double of the fee.

According to Ciganda, 14,092 online requests were processed in 2021 and, up to June 2022, 4,161 were performed.
