In Uruguay, more than 10k individuals complete the safety guard registration procedure required by security companies.

As it was informed by the General Directorate of Regulation and Oversight of Enterprises, such procedures are being performed since 2020.

The procedure, which helps eradicate the use of paper, streamlines approval time and can be completed online.

Requirements

The citizen must have a digital identification card and a reading device, or be registered as a user in gub.uy, Identidad Mobile or TuID.

The citizen must be 18 to 70 years old.

The process to register guards without gun has certain requirements that guarantee the aptitude and security of future guards.

Candidates must approve a specialized training course to gain the skills and knowledge required to perform their duties. Psychological tests are also mandatory.

Health check is another requisite to guarantee the physical fitness of candidates. Also, the criminal record must be presented.

A color photo allows a clear and precise identification of guards without gun.

The registration process for guards with gun is similar, but, in such case, a shooting course must be taken to prove competence to use firearms.
