SUMMARY:

On May 5, a new cooperation agreement was signed between the National Telecommunications Administration (ANTEL) and the Agency for Electronic Government and the Information and Knowledge Society (AGESIC). The agreement establishes a framework for technical collaboration aimed at advancing digital transformation projects across the public sector.

INFORMATION:

The agreement expands the scope of the interinstitutional cooperation framework that has been in place since 2008. It updates existing collaboration by incorporating current services and adding new areas of mutual interest, with the goal of coordinating joint efforts on key issues related to the public sector's digital infrastructure and services.

The main areas of cooperation include cybersecurity and critical infrastructure, data center services and operational continuity, the government cloud, and the digitalization of public procurement processes. The agreement also provides for the creation of testing environments to support artificial intelligence use cases, the development of technology projects related to road safety, and the enhancement of connectivity and value-added services.

Cooperation will be implemented through the exchange of information, joint studies and technical work, access to specialized equipment and materials, and the provision of specific services.

In addition, the agreement establishes a joint committee composed of representatives from ANTEL and AGESIC to monitor the implementation of its objectives. The agreement will initially remain in force for two years and will be automatically renewed for successive one-year terms.

On behalf of AGESIC, the agreement was signed by Executive Director Cristina Zubillaga. Representing ANTEL, it was signed by President Alejandro Paz and General Manager Laura Saldanha.
