Apia to manage processes in ANCAP
Summary:
The state-owned company opted for the Apia BPM solution to manage its business processes.
It applies to
- Apia 3.0
Information:
ANCAP had a long-term advisory - two years - in which an international consultant defined the best business practices to work in internal processes. The agency made a call seeking a tool for the management of processes and STATUM presented a proposal that finally ended up being the one chosen.
However, the tool should be able to adapt to ANCAP's business architecture, where work with IBM was required. This fact could pose a risk, since STATUM did not have its product homologated by IBM.
Thus, in the first instance, there was a process of approval and at the same time, the process of management of initiatives was released. Its functionality is to identify problems and needs that may arise in the life cycle of the company, to design alternatives capable of contemplating them. They are then evaluated by a commission that selects that solution that might be viable, otherwise it is discarded.
For this process, the initiatives are recorded, the alternatives are handled so that the committee can be issued by some and soon (if the previous step is affirmative) becomes a business case.
The project, currently under way, is related to the concept of governance of information and communication technologies. The governance criterion covers the establishment and supervision of organizations in terms of policies and practices on these technologies.
In the case of STATUM, it implied a maturation of the BPM where the requirements of the functional areas and the strategy supported by ANCAP were considered, which was not limited only to the provided tools but to broader issues of a structural and organizational nature. These should have been present in the process management and aligned with the meaning of governance required in a large organization.
Project implementation time: It was completed in approximately six months.
Specific technical information:
- Apia 3.0 was used
- Operating system: AS400
- DB2 database (IBM)
- Websphere Application Server.
